For 12-year old Mickayla Eberly, time was always something she had very little of. A dedicated figure skater since elementary school, Mickayla’s daily schedule over the past few years has consisted of rushing from school in York to practice in Harrisburg, more than an hour away, and then back in time to finish her homework, eat and rest—just to do it all over again the next day. Like many talented and creative high school students, when class is out for the day Molly Hennessey can be found warming up for voice lessons, rehearsing in the dance studio, or reading lines for the upcoming thespian production. Benjamin Rabe has known for a long time what he wanted to do with his life: ballet. “I’ve been training with the Pittsburgh Ballet since I was eleven,” said Benjamin Rabe, a resident of Murraysville, Pennsylvania. Benjamin and his twin brother Tim are members of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School graduating Class of 2009. “Before ballet I did gymnastics. At one time I was fifth in the state,” said Ben. He hopes his talent and hard work will lead to fulfilling his dream of one day dancing for one of the top ten ballet companies in America. More »

On a recent Friday afternoon, 16-year-old Alexa Dectis was at home in Allentown, finishing up some schoolwork, just a few hours removed from a session in New York City with her vocal coach where she’s working on recording her first CD. A crazy schedule is nothing new for this PA Cyber sophomore, who is not only an honor roll student and a talented singer and songwriter, but also the 2009 Pennsylvania State Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
